The kids just LOVED TO READ. Maria liked it so much that she’d go to the library to get her books and sit up in a tree so no one could BOTHER HER. The girls particularly liked LITTLE WOMEN, and the boys were always tickled with books about rocks. Tim liked mechanical things, so he was always READING ABOUT CARS; Tom loved books about sports; and Dan loved any books relating to PLANES or TRUCKS. (He’d draw pictures of trucks too.) When the kids were young, I WOULD READ TO THEM every day. One of their favorite things to have read to them was this little religious magazine for children called MARYKNOLL —it had big print, beautiful, colorful pictures, and when I read, I read with imagination and GUSTO—I think that’s why our kids are the way they are now! So OUTGOING and ANIMATED.
